Break the Silence is a statewide public awareness campaign coordinated by the Virginia Sexual & Domestic Violence Action Alliance. The goals of the campaign are to publicize the free, confidential services of the Virginia Family Violence & Sexual Assault Hotline (1.800.838.8238 v/tty) and to educate friends and family members to recognize  and respond to abuse when it happens to someone they care about. So far, we have communicated these messages through radio, newspaper, and television advertising in key regions of our state, as well as direct outreach in the community. This website expands on these efforts, offering information and resources for friends, families, victims, and faith communities  who need to know how to Break the Silence about domestic and sexual violence.
